Use of the Moxa OnCell G3111 industrial IP modem in remote management systems

Nyírségvíz Zrt. has deployed a number of data side communication systems in recent years. As several different solutions were in use, it was a rational decision to review the use of these solutions and to optimize operations with regard to cost-effectiveness.

The optimization of the communication systems was implemented as part of a Team (Team ID: TPMSZ-3/2009).

As several different solutions were in use, it was a rational decision to review the use of these solutions and to optimize operations with regard to cost-effectiveness. As a part of the project these communication solutions were mapped and effectiveness was analyzed with special emphasis on the technical and economic implications of area extensions. As a result of Teamwork, a proposal was made to modify existing systems, for the opportunities to include new areas, and to optimize communication methods (wireless, wired), as well as to remove unused communication methods.

The proposal included cost optimization calculations to show the savings opportunities of the developments. The upper diagram shows the operating cost savings opportunities for the scenario when GPRS communication is extended to the entire operation area. The lower diagram shows the distribution of investment and operation costs for the different communication methods under identical conditions.
