As a part of site development, a comprehensive security surveillance system was deployed along with a special camera system to ensure safe lorry traffic within the site. The deployment included 24 security surveillance cameras and 12 traffic management cameras. Camera feeds are connected to two recording devices in a central server room. Two additional recording devices are available for the users through integrated security management software.

Due to a large number of currently used camera feeds and future upgradability, a Gigabit Ethernet backbone network inevitably had to be deployed. The switches of the field devices were installed into unheated outdoor cabinets. This was a very solid reason for using MOXA devices with an extended operating temperature range to ensure that it can be operated safely in all weather conditions.

The extremely wide product range of MOXA proved to be a considerable advantage during the planning of the network as every camera could be connected to a Gigabit backbone network using POE supply with an extended operating temperature range. As a single MOXA device offers all the capacities required by this special installation, it was not necessary to install several parallel devices (e.g.: EDS-P510A-8POE-2GTXSFP-T with eight POE ports, two Gigabit SFP ports, a -40 to +75°C temperature range – the device is also TurboRing compatible but this functionality was not used for this particular deployment).
